If you’re looking to remodel your kitchen or bathroom in 2022, take note of these design trends. We know “trend” can be a loaded word, especially when you tack a “y” on the end and get every homeowner ever worried that their remodel won’t stand the test of time. So we took extra care when curating this list to point out trends that are not only popular, but also offer some longevity and style. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Trend #1 – Goth Features | Turns out, it’s not just a phase. Pinterest predicts that goth features will see a boost in 2022. In fact, “goth kitchen decor” has seen an 85% increase in searches as of late. So how do you bring this trend home? We suggest swapping white for black, anywhere you can. White kitchen cabinets? Try black instead! White subway tiles? This picture below of a Sonoma Tilemakers Stellar backsplash proves just how edgy and sleek black tiles can be.

Trend #2 – Go Green | We said it last year, and we’ll say it again. Green is (still) having a moment. We think any shade of green is a hot choice for homes right now, but Good Housekeeping says it’s the muted greens that will come out on top this year. Our favorite place to put an olive accent? Kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanities. We just love this jewel-toned island jaw-dropper from our Diamond cabinetry collection.

Trend #3 – Matte Black Fixtures | Now let’s talk bathroom fixtures. Antique brass has certainly had its moment, but it’s time now to make room for matte black. Good Housekeeping also predicts that matte black bath fixtures will top 2022 trends. We love Schluter Systems’ matte black drain grate and shelves to keep a cohesive look from your faucet to your shower.

Trend #4 – Marble Bathrooms | What goes well with matte black fixtures? The always classic and still trendy marble bathroom. You’ll see this look on basically every 2022 design trends list. And while the real deal is gorgeous, we usually opt for the easier to maintain and more affordable porcelain alternatives, like in this shower installation from Bobeck Built featuring our Rex White Fantasy porcelain tiles.

Trend #5 – Elevated Subway Tiles | And finally, tile insiders know subway tiles have been around forever, and they aren’t going anywhere. But more and more clients are opting for subway tiles with a little something special to make them stand out. Our Roca Maiolica collection elevates the standard subway look by adding an undulated finish, and that subtle texturing grabs the light in any room just right.
